About us
Simon Jaquet Consultancy Services Ltd was established in 2004 to
- provide expert consultancy, advice, and guidance to organisations and public bodies which work with young people
- promote long term, analytical thinking about young people, democracy, and civil society
Since then, we have worked with a huge range of clients, including the Scottish Government, national charities, local authorities, NDPBs, the NHS, and voluntary and community organisations – from Norwich to Orkney (and many points in between).
Simon Jaquet
Simon Jaquet is Director of Simon Jaquet Consultancy Services Ltd, and has over 30 years experience of policy and practice work with young people through youth work, schools, and volunteering (in Scotland, France, Germany, and Botswana). His main areas of expertise are research & evaluation and organisational development. He was Director of Fast Forward Positive Lifestyles for 14 years, and Chief Executive of YouthLink Scotland (Scotland’s national youth agency) for three years, before establishing his own consultancy business in 2004.
He was a member of the Scottish Ministerial ‘Osler Committee’ on Community Education 1998 and a member of the Scottish Executive Expert Reference Group (to Cabinet) on Children and Young People 2003 - 04. He is currently Chair of the Edinburgh Youth Work Consortium, Vice Chair of the Rock Trust, and a board member of Fischy Music.
In the course of a thirty year career, Simon has:
- Developed pioneering drug education services for young people, professionals and parents at Fast Forward 1987 - 2001
- Championed the development of peer education in Scotland from 1987
- Developed and co-wrote The Big Picture (1999), a framework for organisational and quality development in the voluntary sector for the Scottish Council of Voluntary Organisations
- Established YouthLink Scotland as the national youth agency for Scotland in 2002 through a major merger with Community Learning Scotland
- Designed and managed the first ever mapping of youth work provision in Scotland across the voluntary and statutory sectors in 2003
